New STEAM Studios, Libraries Planned for Jefferson, Washington Schools

    New additions for Jefferson and Washington schools are now open!

    The new additions were made possible by the voters’ approval of Proposition N in April 2017. Prop N is a $23 million no-tax-rate increase bond issue which is providing funds for new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) studios, new secure entrances, parking areas, library media centers and other facility updates at Washington and Jefferson schools. The Prop N funds will also be used for a new Early Learning Center, and additional facility upgrades throughout the Collaborative.

    In April 2018, the Collaborative held separate groundbreakings at each school to celebrate the new additions. The groundbreakings included students, administrators, members of the Prop N Normandy Now committee, community leaders, current and retired Normandy staff, and JEGB members.
   
    Barbara Fraser, education liaison for St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger, presented a letter of congratulations from the County commending the Collaborative for helping to “provide the best education possible for students, improve their performance and achievement, and prepare them to become responsible citizens.”

    Washington School is located in the Vinita Park area, at 1730 N. Hanley Road. Jefferson School is located in the historic Pasadena Hills neighborhood at 4315 Cardwell Drive.
